PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

15:10 Pontefract

We start our day’s previews with an eight furlong fillies handicap.

Temptress is a clear favourite for this after a good second at Royal Ascot three weeks ago in the Royal Hunt Cup; she was absolutely flying home in the final stages and was unlucky not to grab the win and if she continues like that today she’ll be a hard one to catch.

Pelerin didn’t quite cope Stepping up to group company last time out but she’s no stranger to this level of racing and even with a seven pound rise from her last win at this level she should still be a real threat.

Graham Lee won this card last year and may have a shot of a place here today on Rekdhat; she was having her first run for over nine months when finishing third two weeks ago and that might of got her ready for this today and is worth taking a chance on for this.

The top weight Gratzie has been hiked up in the weights after a good win at Epsom Downs four weeks ago but she still looks to have enough under her and also has a chance here.

15:40 Pontefract

We stay at Pontefract for our second preview a six furlong handicap.

Deauville Prince finally got his head back in front for the first time in nearly three years last time out where he kept on well in the final furlong; he has been raised five pounds for that win and that may just catch him out for a quick double today.

Slingsby is nineteen pounds higher after completing a double at the beginning of June and was only a length behind the winner when finishing third off this mark last time out; he steps back down in trip which should suit and can be a real player in this today.

Nameitwhatyoulike is only five pound higher from his last win but that was on soft ground so he’ll re lush any rain that may be due over night and if he gets the cut in the ground he needs he’s another with chances.

Equity Risk surely can’t get any lower in the weights and didn’t produce last time out after being sent off favourite but he looked very good at Ascot back in October and is another who could be a real danger if finding his old form.

Slingsby (E/W)

17:50  Brighton

We head to Brighton for our final preview a five furlong handicap.

To be honest this isn’t the greatest race on offer here this evening but there’s a horse in this race I really like and what looks a very high price may be worth taking a chance on. Imjin  River he is a very consistent sort on the all-weather and takes to the turf for the first time in nearly three years; he looks to be fairly treated on his return and could easily cause an upset here tonight.

Picansort is the obvious favourite as he posts the best form to date after finishing third last week in a much stronger contest than this and will be hard to beat.

Gypsy Rider placed over course and distance at the beginning of June and is another who has place claims once again.

It’s hard to make a case for any others on the card tonight so I’ll stick with Imjin River.
