PADDOCKS PATENT (THURSDAY)

15:00 Carlisle

Starting the selections away from the TV tips and we head north for a sprint over just shy than six furlongs. Usually you would won’t a high draw however the majority of the market principles are drawn low.

Spiraea is the only one in the first six who has secured the high draw and Graham Lee is booked and has won on this horse previously. However that was nearly 12 months ago and still above last winning mark is easily avoided.

The Tutty family have Percy’s Gal here and is another off a career high mark, however she has been running consistently and looks sure to run well again. She is a worthy favourite.

As Good As Gold is a former Aidan O’Brien horse who while running in the big two year old races in Ireland didn’t break her duct until June this year as a three year old.

Now that she has won it could build her confidence, however she was beaten off this mark in a less competitive affair last time.

The selection is Bondi Beach Babe. She completely missed the break at Beverly last time out and that track is very unforgiving. She flew home on the outside and is still well treated as only 4lbs higher than her last win. Ground is in favour and the conditions of this race will suit and has a good E/W chance.

The biggest danger could come from Maureb, she is bred to be better than this mark and could run the selection close.

From a low grade sprint we head to the three year old and a listed race over a mile.

Both Estidhkaar and Bossy Guest are both here after recent runs in the 2000 guineas with the later finishing a good fourth. On official ratings they are well clear and both need to be respected.

Tupi has a penalty to carry and could struggle after winning at this level previously. While Bartel will need to improve massively to get involved.

Secret Brief will be the biggest danger after two recent placed efforts in Listed contests. However its a horse he beat on one of those occasions White Lake, that is taken to give the two hotspots the most to think about.

Luca Cumani horses take time to come to hand and it was a small shock to see him win first time out as a two year old. His second run as a two year old has worked out really well. White Lake has built on each run and should come on again here.

We finish with a wide open contest over a mile and five furlongs and currently the market is 5/1 Bar. Daliyan is currently at the head of the betting, he is off nearly a career mark and does look set to struggle off this weight. Cailini Alainnn is a horse I’ve liked for a while but she has disappointed me lately plus the yard have not started this season. Venezia has the benefit of Sean Corby claim and is down technically nine pounds since firstly allotted mark. Halfords yard have been going well over the recent weeks and this horse ran well behind a well handicapped Weld horse on Derby weekend. He is by no means the most solid, but has a profile that should be better than this race and these conditions.

Off the remainder Winter Lion appeals most but may just have a handicap at Galway on radar while any market moves for Gordon Elliot’s charge Ebony Roc will need to be noticed.
