FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

18:50 Dundalk

We start in Co Louth for a mile handicap and nine runners heading to post. Downforce is the current favourite and will struggle to be beaten here. One of two three year olds in the field was an unlucky loser last time over shorter at the Curragh. Dropped three pounds in the weight here, looks lenient. While she was never going to win that race, she was given an easy race under hands and heels. She still has more potential to improve above this mark. Political Policy is the main danger. For a horse that does not like turf his last run was very positive finishing a fourth in a hot handicap. Twp previous wins here is another positive but this mark looks plenty high. Reckless Lad and The Ice Meister should also be popular. The former is a course and distance winner and is back down to a lower mark than when winning at Killarney. His previous runs are not inspiring but the booking of Fran Berry is a big positive. The Ice Meister is interesting for Ger Lyons who has good form and looks to have been given a chance by the handicapper. He rarely backs up a run and he has a bit to find on bare form.

Downforce (WIN)

19:20 Dundalk

The main race on the All Weather in the UK and Ireland tonight, A listed contest over a mile. Facade jumps off the page. She has run well in two maidens. Paidrag Beggy takes the ride with the rest of Ballydoyle jockeys at the Breeders Cup. The twelve months off is massive negative given the yards form with horses first time out. Thrown in here to the deep in she could be up to this. Back On Top was just touched off hear last week when mugged on the line. She should be involved again but may not be up to this level. The selection is Tamadhor, finish sixth in the 1000 guineas back in May behind Pleasach and her opening run as a two year old was behind Legatissimo. While she has clearly had her problems and has struggled to get head in front, it is tough to get her beat today. On ratings alone she has 10 pounds in hand so even a below run form here will suffice.

Tamadhor (WIN)

21:00 Dundalk

Final race of the evening is the finale from Dundalk and a mile quarter race with the max field to go. Hatch Hall is favourite and is entitled to be heading the market. Karl Thorthan has two horses in training at present. Both have won over the last fortnight inc Hatch Hall twice over hurdles and on the flat here on Wednesday. He must go close but the step down in trip is not an obvious move. Honor Oak hacked up here two weeks ago. The handicapper has taken no chances with a twelve pound rise in the weights. But this three year old is still potentially well treated and can go well for Tom Hogan. Off the remainder Mademoiselle Penny is the most interesting. Two wins from two including holding most of these here. She also has a big rise to deal with. She will again remain competitive. The final one you can give a chance is Udogo but she is well held by many of these with weight back in her favour.

Honor Oak (WIN)
