SUNDAY WEEKENDER

16:00 REDCAR This may only be a claiming stakes race, but it looks an ultra competitive for the level here today at Redcar with a number of these rivals well capable of scoring over today’s 1m2f trip. Mick Appleby’s Hannington is the likely favourite for the race after an impressive wide-margin success in a four-runner event at Lingfield last time out. That race was at a similar level to today’s race of the 7lb claim of Raymond Dawson in the saddle would give him a massive chance here today, but the horse does seem to have a habit of finding at least one too good more often than not. It may pay instead to side with the Declan Carroll trained Mysterial. The horse won in impressive style off a 5lb lower mark two starts back at Pontefract over today’s trip before failing to last home over 1m4f last time out. He can make his presence felt in this sphere with Ger O’Neill’s claim being put to good use and he could easily pour it on in this company from the front off his current mark. MYSTERIAL (WIN) – NAP

17:00 REDCAR A number of last time out winners add a real intrigue to this fascinating handicap contest ran over 1m. Sir Michael Stoute’s Flourishing really is open to any amount of potential after a run away success in maiden company over today’s trip at Chester last time out and he looks a stand out contender to follow that up here today. Oisin Murphy makes the trip to Redcar especially for the ride and he is the confident pick to land the spoils here today. The likes of Richard Fahey’s Vaulted and Roger Fell trained Beadlam were both last time out winners and could easily take a hand here today, but the main danger may come from Richard Whitaker’s Totally Magic who has been knocking on the door of the winner’s enclosure for some time now, but must be a real concern the amount of times it find one too good. FLOURISHING (WIN)
