ROYAL ASCOT
DAY 1 - TUESDAY

With three Group 1 races on the opening day, including the King Charles III Stakes, make sure you check out our thoughts for day one.

14:30

FACTEUR CHEVAL
(WIN)

Charyn has failed to deliver in six previous Group 1 efforts. Likely to reverse the recent form with Audience but it's the French raider FACTEUR CHEVAL who gets the nod. Looking to repeat his father' Ribchester's win in this race and should come on for his winning return at Meydan.

15:05

COWARDOFTHECOUNTRY
(WIN)

COLUMNIST
(E/W)

Trainer Aidan O'Brien has saddled the winner of this race on ten previous occasions. Camille Pissarro holds a solid chance but it's Aidan's son Joseph who holds the strongest claim with COWARDOFTHECOUNTRY. The form of his sole victory looks very strong and seems bred for this contest if handling the better ground.
At bigger odds COLUMNIST showed plenty of speed in his Chester victory and should be up near the front from the get go. If he can hold on he could finish in the mix.

15:35

BIG EVS
(WIN)

VALIANT FORCE
(E/W)

VALIANT FORCE returns from his US exploits and won at this meeting last year. Will appreciate the firmer ground and can do better than his odds may suggest.
BIG EVS returned to action with a comfortable win at York last month and is another former Royal Ascot victor. The one to beat.

16:25

NOTABLE SPEECH
(WIN)

Rosallion and NOTABLE SPEECH renew their 2,000 Guineas rivalry and it'll be hard for Richard Hannon's charge to reverse the form despite his subsequent Irish Guineas success.
Of the remainder Almaqam could sneak into a place.

17:05

NUSRET
(E/W)

ALMUHIT
(E/W)

Likely to go to an Irish raider and both five-year-old's NUSRET and ALMUHIT are taken as each-way alternatives. The pair should appreciate this better ground and longer trip. Each-way options in a very open and competitive contest.

17:40

BOLD DISCOVERY (E/W)

Israr looks set to go off the likely favourite but without a win in close to a year it might be worth looking elsewhere. Stablemate Torito looks the best of the Gosden runners and shouldn't be far away. Despite the odds a chance is taken with BOLD DISCOVERY who took home Group 3 success last time out. A battling display in which he still showed signs of greeness and is likely to improve for his seasonal reappearance. Looks drastically overpriced and shouldn't be overlooked.

18:15

NAQEEB (E/W)

In what looks a very open renewal it's hard to be overly confident about any runner so a chance is taken on an outsider. Despite failing to deliver in two Group 3 contests a return to handicap company should be a boost to NAQEEB. Only 3lb above his last winning mark and is already proven at this trip.
