SUNDAY WEEKENDER

14:35 Cartmel

The whole racecard at Cartmel today looks top-drawer and this race in-particular promises to be an absolute cracker, with a number who would have to be considered in with a chance. Wells De Lune has the perfect record of four wins from four over course and distance and is only 1lbs higher than his last victory, while Tonto’s Spirit also has an excellent strike rate at the track and arrives in good form having won over the larger obstacles last time out.

Local trainer James Moffatt sends Altruism who has won five from eight here at Cartmel and is 5lbs lower than when last successful over the trip, while Dr Newland has his stable in fine form and sends Magnor Cartor in search of his hat-trick following wins at Uttoxeter and Southwell in recent weeks.

All that said, preference is for Project Bluebook who was a Grade 2 winner over hurdles in 2017 and suggested that he will be winning again soon after a solid second in the Grade 3 Swinton Hurdle at Haydock in May, finishing just a length behind Le Patriote. He is yet to race at this unique course but races for a stable who have had three winners from four runners in the last three years over hurdles at the course. With a strong pace to aim at and the long run in expected to suit, he is the choice to emerge victorious.
