SOUTH AFRICAN SELECTION (SATURDAY)

Well, our very first South African coverage false started, when our first tip ‘ASTRO’  was scratched and this clearly showed that the celestial star signs were not in our favour.

Our second tip never made it to the website due to a glitch in our systems, perhaps in hindsight the glitch saved our pride as the tip ran respectfully just behind the top 4 finishers albeit carrying a huge weight. So like any wannabe Hollywood director we go at it again and we can confidently say “Act 2 – Scene 1”. Lets hope our plays from hereon, ‘No Pun Intended’ are in favour of the racing Gods and I thus take another opportunity to welcome you all to another first for Picksfromthepaddock, which of course is our new coverage of racing from South Africa.

TURFFONTEIN:

Race 9 (15:40) – Fillies and Mares Handicap for horses rated (0 – 67) over 2000m or 1m2f

Although at first glance it looks like a very dull middle distance handicap for the fairer sex, when you look at the statistics, it really is not.

I would look first to a  4 year old filly who’s handicap rating is no greater than 67 but no less than 61.

Ideally drawn in stall 5 or 6 and is not currently the highest rated filly or mare in the race.

Flirting Around has CD winning form and to go with that CD form a fantastic winning time of just 1½ seconds off the course record. She  runs from a lovely draw and barring the last 2 mediocre runs at distances not optimum for her, she goes into my books as the winner.

Flirting Around (WIN)
