SATURDAY WEEKENDER

15:00 Kempton

Yeeoow has an excellent record over course and distance having won two and placed four times from eleven attempts and was just two lengths behind Spring Loaded when third here last week. He looks sure to run another good race yet has never managed a win in nineteen attempts in a Class 2 and may have to settle for minor honours again today.

Plucky Dip finished just ahead of Yeeoow last week but was still over a length behind the winner and has raced six times over course and distance without getting his nose in front, although has placed in four of these.

Mukaynis has a 70% strike rate for making the frame when racing over six furlongs and has won twice previously when returning from a break, although was disappointing on his only previous run at Kempton.

Lucky Beggar has only won once in ten over today’s trip with Hoofalong posting only one win in fourteen, so with question marks over the above runners preference is for Dougan.

The four year old won on his only previous visit to Kempton, won on his only other attempt over six furlongs and has won three from five when racing on an all-weather surface (finishing second in the other two).

Dougan (WIN)

16:20 Uttoxeter

Top Weight Bryden Boy is an extremely consistent sort having made the frame in over 50% of his career runs to date, yet has only managed to get his nose in front on one occasion and comes up against some in-form rivals today.

At eleven years old Join The Navy isn’t getting any younger but has been in great from over recent months with a win and two seconds from his last three runs. He could only manage secong last time out but the fourth that day has won since so he has to be considered.

Good Vibration has occupied the runner-up spot in each of his last four runs, two of which were over todays’ trip. He was heavily supported last time out and although was still eight lengths behind the winner he could prove to be a big danger if the promise of further progress is realised.

Loves Destination was an eight length winner last weekend and arrives here without a penalty for that success, meaning with Thomas Garners’ 3lbs claim she is effectively better off for todays’ race. She has been highly tried in recent months, running five times already this year but with three wins and two placed efforts from these five runs she is right at the top of her game and another big run looks assured.

Loves Destination (WIN)

16:50 Newbury

Sportsreport is the only one of the nine scheduled runners to arrive on the back of a win last time out, however has shown his best form on heavy ground and also has a career high mark to contend with here.

Whispering Warrior is a previous course and distance winner although has been largely disappointing this season and hasn’t won in over a year. His course form suggests he has to be considered but would need to show a lot more than he has in recent runs.

Go Conquer has won twice and placed once from four runs over simialr distances to todays’ race however all of these came over hurdles and his first attempt over fences saw him finish way down the field. He should improve for that run and has proved before that he runs well fresh but Jonjo O’Neill’s recent form tempers enthusiasm somewhat.

Preference is for Owen Na View who beat Village Vic by eleven lengths to win this race last year and returns to defend his crown off the same mark as last years’ victory. He warmed up for this race with a decent second at Southwell which should mean he arrives here fit and ready to go in again.

Owen Na View (WIN)
