RACE PREVIEWS & TIPS (WEDNESDAY)

14:40 Yarmouth Zubaidah was a convincing winner over course and distance on penultimate run, defying odds of 50/1, and followed up with another commanding victory last time out. With conditions to suit and a 4lbs rise for todays’ race is offset by jockey David Egan claiming 5lbs he looks the one to be on here. Tyrsal hasn’t won for a while and has been raised 2lbs for a placed effort last time out but is still 6lbs below his best winning mark and has a good record at Yarmouth so looks to be the main danger. Most of the remainder have better form on an all-weather surface but Hope Is High has made the frame in three from six on turf. The booking of Silvestre De Sousa, a rare rider for John Berry, catches the eye and as such is also considered worthy of a mention. ZUBAIDAH (WIN) – NAP

16:30 Haydock A winner on good-to-soft ground last time out, First Voyage looks likely to go off as a short-priced favourite and with the yard in great recent form it would be no surprise to see him go close. However, at the forecast odds, upped in trip and with an eight month absence to overcome i’m going to take him on. Marmajuke Bay is a course and distance winner and has also won on soft ground but is still 5lbs higher than his last victory and disappointed last time out so preference is for Mutadaffeq who is two for two on turf since joining David O’Meara and although it has to be taken on trust that he will act on a softer surface he has looked to be progressing nicely so is the selection here. MUTADAFFEQ (WIN)
