RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (WEDNESDAY)

15:30 Nottingham

Although three of the seven runners have already tasted victory in their fledgling careers it’s the three race maiden Prefontaine that catches the eye. A third place finish in a hot contest at Haydock was followed up by a race at the same venue that saw the two year old grey go one better to claim the runners up spot. The form of those two encouraging runs look to be potentially very good and as he now takes his first foray into handicap company, over a longer trip, this level of opposition may well be beneath him.

Representing an equally powerful stable the Mark Johnston trained Cape Islay looks the most obvious threat who ran well to finish fifth at Beverley and looks to improve for the step up in trip and addition of blinkers. We hope however that it’s the Roger Varian candidate that finally finds his head in front at the fourth time of asking.
