RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (THURSDAY)

16:25 Carlisle Carrigdhoun loves this venue and added a fourth course victory to his CV when landing a similar contest last season, now on a handy mark after a couple of modest efforts it would be fair to say he needs to show more to land this although a revival wouldn’t surprise. Shanroe Santos is an intriguing yet rare runner for his handler around here, promising last term and with the likelihood of further improvement this time around he looks the potential dark horse and he will strip fitter today than when making his comeback at Warwick earlier in the month. Kapp Jazz is unexposed over this far though Venetia Williams has a cracking record with similar types, likely to be suited by the ground and with time on his side, he looks a big player if ready to go. Bigirononhiship and Courtown Oscar are others to consider but a chance will be taken on Carrigdhoun outrunning his odds at his favourite venue. CARRIGDHOUN (E/W)

20:45 Chelmsford Musaahim has probably has the best form in the book from turf maidens though he failed to make it count when making his all weather debut last time, from the Varian yard he probably deserves another chance and this step up in trip looks likely to suit. Marine One was given too much to do when second at Newcastle last time and is another likely to be suited by the extra yardage, you do worry however that the patient tactics usually employed on him could be a significant disadvantage should they dawdle up front. Mahabba and Ocean Of Love make some appeal for their powerful yards but Musaahim gets the nod to finally get his head in front. MUSAAHIM (WIN) – NAP
