RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

14:45 Wolverhampton

Mister Music has proved to be an expensive horse to follow for backers in recent memory. Although he undoubtedly built a strong relationship with jockey Poppy Bridgwater the gelding has been frustrating since his last meeting with the winners enclosure back in January. Interestingly today Poppy is found saddling the French horse Secondo in the same race so Elisha Whittington is booked. It’s worth noting she’s produced some stellar rides on some rank outsiders over the past few weeks, it goes without saying that this an excellent opportunity for her today and she is a jockey in form. For Mister since January, theres been a few wasted opportunities, none more noticeable than the recent outing at Southwell in May where he was just pipped to the post. He failed to land the gamble, firing off as the 10/11 favourite. Today is a perfect chance to get back to winning ways.

MISTER MUSIC (WIN)

16:15 Wolverhampton

Boom The Groom has won three from six over course and distance, all three coming when racing off higher handicap marks and in higher class races. His last few runs on turf have been a little underwhelming but the switch back to tapeta and the application of first time cheekpieces means he is an interesting contender.

You’re Cool was last seen winning at Chelmsford in May, battling well to beat the re-opposing Cappananty Con by a length, but now finds himself racing off a career high mark so looks vulnerable for win purposes.

Harry’s Bar is another last time out winner who also finished ahead of Cappananty Con when last seen. That was his first attempt at the minimum trip so he is entitled to improve, however a 7lbs rise will undoubtedly make things tougher.

This brings us to our selection Cappananty Con who has an excellent record at Wolves, posting four wins from seven runs, including two over todays’ trip. Unlike his afore-mentioned rivals he has no handicap rises to contend with so looks capable of reversing the form with both given his return to Wolves and the revised weights in his favour.

CAPPANANTY CON (WIN)

19:00 Catterick Trainer Ian Williams has his horses going very well of late and he has a great chance of adding to his stables recent victories with five year old Artic Nel. A second placed effort last time out at Nottingham should be a good indicator that she’s set to go close once again and this lightly raced mare still has enough room to grow. Top weight Dew Pond has been relatively consistent and course winners Richard Strauss and Midnight Warrior also enter calculations. A return to the flat for Rockliffe is also very interesting and as such he poses a serious threat as well but it’s Artic Nel that gets our vote this evening. ARTIC NEL (WIN)
