RACE PREVIEW & TIPS (MONDAY)

16:15 Ffos Las

Sir Plato suggested that a return to the winner’s enclosure might not be too far away after being beaten by just a length last time out, only being headed by an in-form Eve Johnson Houghton runner in the final 100 yards when still a couple of lengths clear of the remainder of the field. All six career wins have come over a mile trip, he is still 2lbs below last winning mark and also benefits from jockey Finley Marsh’s 5lbs claim so a big run looks to be on the cards today.

The Groove has placed in both prior runs at Ffos Las and won last time out, although steps up from a class 6 to a class 4 off a 5lbs higher mark so may struggle to follow up today and a bigger danger looks to be Cuban Heel who has posted four placed efforts from ten career runs, finishing ahead of a subsequent winner when second at Epsom last time out. He tends to finish his races strongly but hasn’t quite had the speed or power to get his head in front and as a result may have to settle for minor honours again today.
