PRETTY POLLY STAKES

15:45 Curragh

This looks like a particularly competitive renewal of the Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes and Paddy Twomey looks to have a strong hand with La Petite Coco and the supplemented Rosscarbery. In form jockey, Billy Lee has unsurprisingly kept faith with La Petite Coco who won twice at Killarney before an impressive success at Cork and then in a Group 2 over course and distance, when proving too good for the Group 1 winner Love. Wayne Lordan steps in for the ride on Rosscarbery who is chasing a five-timer following impressive wins on all previous starts for her new trainer including the Munster Oaks when last seen. There’s strong opposition to the Twomey pair but the Tipperary handler may win his first Group 1.

The lightly-raced My Astra is three from four to date and was an impressive listed winner last month at Ayr. The half-sister to the classy My Oberon is very unexposed and should be involved. Joint top-rated Dreamloper is more exposed than most but has won a Group 2 and Group 1 on her two most recent starts since stepping up in distance. She seems to have taken her form to a new level but may be vulnerable to some of her younger rivals.

Irish 1000 Guineas sixth and recent French Group 2 winner Purplepay along with Epsom Oaks fourth Concert Hall are others of interest.
