PADDOCKS PATENT (WEDNESDAY)

15:00 Leicester Our only selection from the National Hunt sphere today comes in what looks a tidy little heat and future winners will certainly come out of it. The eye catcher appears to be the Nicky Henderson trained Medieval Chapel, twice a point winner in Ireland he rather failed to fire over hurdles but a good fifth behind the useful Le Vent D’Antan strongly hinted he had a decent level of ability and chasing will surely see him improve further. Sent off a 9/4 favourite last time over this track and trip, he ran as though in need of the run and with that in mind, he is expected to be much sharper today and is taken to run out the winner with Nico De Boinville taking off a handy three pounds. Strollawaynow got his act together in good style when making all at Taunton the last day, he was a tough sort over hurdles and although up in grade with a five pounds penalty today, his chance is respected. Upswing has conditions to suit on his chase debut and has a chance of sorts but perhaps the biggest danger to the selection is Ballybough Pat. He has been rather highly tried but has some strong form for this sort of grade and is a winner in points, any market strength would make him very interesting and a return to form isn’t a forlorn hope here. Medieval Chapel (WIN)

15:10 Chelmsford City Godolphin have dominated the All Weather scene since the end of the turf campaign and are represented by the hat-trick seeking Pretend in this, he looks a highly progressive sort and his chance is clear despite a five pounds penalty. What he beat last time is open to question but his victory before came over a decent sort who has since franked the form, he looks a likely type to go in again but his price offers little value and a chance is taken because of this. Major Crispies showed some good form from the turf season and ran an eye catching race the last day at Lingfield, the run will surely bring him on and his earlier victory at that venue offers hope at a price in this. The selection however has to be Fear Or Favour who makes his All Weather debut today and has been gelded since we saw him finishing third, last season in a red hot Newmarket handicap. Clive Cox’s challenger will probably improve significantly for this but his progressive profile is appealing and his level of ability is already above that of his opponents in this, any weakness in the market would be a significant worry but a chance is taken he’s fit enough to account for these. Fear Or Favour (E/W if 5/1+)

16:10 Chelmsford City Trimoulet failed to figure in two Haydock maidens and looked a likely type for the handicapping scene, his most recent effort when second at Southwell over a mile was much more encouraging though and his mark may be a little lenient. The extra two furlongs today looks another plus for the Kubler challenger and at the odds, he is handed a speculative vote in what looks an open contest. The likely favourite for this is Vosne Romanee whom has improved at a nice rate over hurdles of late, the return to this sphere should be no issue and he has won around Wolverhampton before. Whether this is an actual raid to win or an exercise in keeping fit is hard to judge but he has a chance despite looking a rather peculiar challenger. Thecornishcowboy and Lorraine are both good enough if ready but the biggest danger to the selection could be Nimble Kimble whom has attracted strong market support on a few occasions only to disappoint. Trimoulet (E/W if 5/1+)
