PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

12:55 Southwell We start our day’s previews with a Fillies handicap on the Fibresand. Mark Johnston won this event last year and brings Atlantic Affair here today; she makes her debut on this surface and trip and seems to of been given a fair mark by the handicapper as she has been running well in better company than this as of late; she could go close today and what looks a good price maybe worth taking on. Wu Zetian won over course and distance three weeks ago in a maiden race and comes to handicap company for the first time; she looks be progressing in the right way and should make her presence felt here today but the mark of 70 seems a little high. Queen of Skies is another course and distance winner but was beaten by over eight lengths when last seen back in February and may need this today to get her season started. Imaginary World is another that shouldn’t be dismissed in this wide open handicap. Atlantic Affair (E/W)

14:10 Catterick Our second race is a handicap hurdle over three miles and one furlong, this race finished as a dead heat last year which had Bourne’s trainer involved and Harris. Bourne has seemed to have lost his way this past year and even though he is at his lowest mark to date since starting his jumps career; his form over this distance is not convincing after being beaten by a long way on all four occasions. Harris has been pulled up more than he has won over the years and was a surprise 25/1 winner last time out but with his history taken into account it’s hard to find a reason to see him win this again today. Iconic Rose  at present looks to start off as the favourite and can’t be dismissed if being able to shrug a huge rise in the weights from his previous win over three miles. The biggest danger and my selection is Palm Grey, he takes a huge step up in trip coming to handicap company for the first time and the mark of 105 seems very fair; his jumping over the hurdles is very fluent from a horse that’s only ran twice over timber and has to go close today if handling the distance. Palm Grey (E/W) if 5/1+

15:20 Kempton Park We end our day’s previews with a five furlong handicap. Salvatore Fury is the obvious favourite after producing two great runs at this track recently; he was unlucky not to make it two from two last time out after a five pound rise and even though he has been raised a further pound again today he should be able to shrug that off and be there in the final stages. Secret Millionaire won over course and distance back in March off a twelve pound lower mark but went close off a pound higher mark on the turf; he may relish coming back to this surface but may now just be too high in the weights for this type of race today. The biggest danger could come from Picansort he is another previous course and distance winner and probably needed his run two weeks ago which was in a lot better company than this; he is now down to a winning mark and should get the better of the favourite. Picansort (E/W)
