Spirit Of Rosanna finished two lengths behind Gilmer when last seen at Chepstow in May but the form of that race is panning out well as Gilmer has now notched up a hat-trick with his latest win coming off an 11lbs higher mark. The four year old filly looks to have a lot in her favour having won twice over six furlongs (one here at Brighton) on good-to-soft ground and looks the one to be on given the form of most of the opposition.
Wahaab has only one win in fifteen career runs so isn’t one to to have the utmost of faith in but ran a creditable third last time out under an apprentice jockey and Shane Kelly returns to do the steering for todays’ race, who has been notching up the winners in recent months when riding for Richard Hughes.
Essaka has been badly out of form since returning from a break but as a consequence has dropped to his last winning mark, his jockey claims a further 5lbs and as a previous course and distance winner cannot be completely discounted.

Early favourite Star Of The Stage is the only one of the thirteen-strong field to arrive on the back of a win last time out however all career wins have come on the all-weather and with both previous attempts on turf resulting in poor runs he cannot be backed with much confidence to keep his winning run going here.
I’m Super Too has course and distance form but has disappointed on recent runs and almost all other runners look to be woefully out of form so a tentative selection is for the Kevin Ryan trained Mercury. His overall turf record of one win and one placed effort from fifteen isn’t the most inspiring but both the win and placed effort came here at Beverley. His trainer has an excellent level stakes profit record here over the last five years and Mercury is his only runner on the card today. Furthermore, with Kevin Stotts’ 3lbs claim he is effectively 2lbs below his last winning mark so has to be considered for a place at least.

Ginzan has won three and placed five times from ten runs at Brighton so obviously enjoys running here on the south coast. At eight years of age the Malcolm Saunders trained mare isn’t getting any younger but was a ready winner under jockey George Baker last time out and the partnership is retained here. She is only 3lbs higher for that win, has winning form on similar ground and George Baker has an excellent strike rate both when riding for the yard and riding at Brighton so has to be in with a good chance here.
Whitecrest also has a decent record at Brighton having made the frame in 53% of his seventeen career runs here and rates as the main danger now 1lbs below her last winning mark. Despite this, you have to go back over three years to see a win in a class 4 (all recent wins have been class 5’s) so she may be fighting it out for minor honours today.
Bouclier notched up back-to-back wins on the all-weather earlier in the year but has since run twice on turf, disappointing on both occasions. He is yet to make the frame in seven runs on turf so couldn’t be backed with much confidence here.
