PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

14:50 Wetherby

We start off todays mid-week action with a novices hurdle. Despite his big announcement it seems AP has been in some of the best form of his life and you’d be wary to bet against his rides. This is why I’m siding with his mount in this.

Yes we have an odds on favourite with Warren Greatrex’s One Track Mind who has to be respected with course and distance winning form but the horse hasn’t won in it’s last two outings and unseated its rider on its penultimate start. The yards earlier season form is platowing and I have to go with Jonjo O’Neill’s point to point winner Rainman.

It won well on its point to point debut and has to be respected with such notorious connections.

Rainman (E/W if 9/2+)

The final two selections come on the Tapeta as we take in two races from the Midlands at Wolverhampton. This open looking twelve runner handicap certainly isn’t the classiest race but a case can certainly be made for most of the entrants.

Eleven year old Snow Dancer has achieved more at a much higher grade and if it can recapture any of its previous form would take a hand in this but at eleven its best days are long gone.

The current favourite Mister Marcasite looks to have a good chance with two seconds recently but the horse hasn’t won for a while and I fear its bridesmaid tag will remain today.

I am going to side with a five year old though and opt with course and distance winner Well Owd Mon. The booking of Adam Kirby is worth noting as his record on the all-weather is better than most. The horse also seems to love the course with only one of eighteen runs at the venue it has finished out of the top five. It should improve on it’s fifth placed finish last time out and has to be in the shake up turning for home.

16:35 Wolverhampton

Our final pick comes in a sprint race where once again I side with all-weather maestro Adam Kirby.

The ten year old Ocean Legend turned back the clock when surprising with a very convincing win last time out and despite the drop in distance must surely have enough to win a seller.

If I had to pinpoint a noticable danger I would look at course and distance winner Logans Lad to lead the remainder home after showing some ability when finishing second last time out.
