PADDOCKS PATENT (TUESDAY)

15:50 Brighton

We start our day’s previews with a seven furlong class six handicap.

Baileys En Premier won over course and distance two weeks ago and has only a slight penalty to deal with for this but that race didn’t seem to have very much caliber compared to today’s card and it’s defiantly better to look elsewhere.

Pick A Little is another who won that day but his win came over six furlongs and the six pound rise won’t be any help to him either but he does seem to come good at this time of year and may be one to watch out for.

Sixties Love is currently zero from ten but she showed a vast improvement last time out where she was unlucky to be hampered on the rail and couldn’t quite get her in front; she can race off the same mark again today and this drop in class may just be what she needs to gain her first win to date.

Bloodsweatandtears is another to note; he’s won twice over course and distance in the past but has been away from the track since December and may just need this though he should have a good E/W chance.

We stay in the south east for our second preview a nine furlong handicap.

Glenten won over course and distance last time out and has escaped most of his penalty due to his jockeys claim; he went off favourite that day in a small field of four but I believe he may find this a tougher task.

Bennelong finished third on that occasion but comes here on much better terms; he also has the benefit of his jockeys claim and is now seven pounds lower and he has every chance to reverse the form with Glenten.

Megalala won this card last year off a five pound lower mark at the ripe old age of thirteen; he may not be getting any younger but there seems to be life in the old boy and is dismissed at your peril.

19:20 Exeter

We head to the south west for our final preview a two mile and seven furlong handicap hurdle.

Tom Scudamore won this race last year and has every chance of repeating that today on Houston Dynimo; his trainer David Pipe has tried him over a few distances since joining his yard in 2014 and he may have just found the perfect race for him in this today and has to be one for the shortlist.

Risk A Fine takes a step up in trip which in my opinion may not suit him as he looks better suited to distances around two miles but his trainer must know he can handle the distance and is probably best watched.

Tara Tavey finished six lengths behind the winner when bidding for her hat-trick last month over course and distance and is still awarded a small penalty for this today; she can’t be ignored but may have to settle for the minor places.

Cash Injection seems to need a break from the handicapper as he keeps being penalised for finishing in the places but not winning, he can run off the same mark as he did when finishing third behind Tara Tavey last time out and is another considered for the places.

More Buck’s makes is handicap debut but will need to improve immensely to win this today and may be one too keep an eye on for the future.
