12:35 Southwell Mr Morse has only ever had three career starts and the fact that he won on his debut on this surface last month will bode well for him in this company. He was doing all of his best work in the closing stages as he was able to shoot down Vivre La Reve who looked to have swooped to victory on his most recent start. Dale Swift knows how to ride this track and Brian Ellison will be hoping that the combination can build on what has been a progressive career to date. Essenaitch landed a gamble in fine style here earlier in the week. He has been raised six pounds for that win but David Nolan replaces John Egan in the saddle. That also marked his debut on this surface and he is drawn well enough to warrant consideration once again. Course and distance winner Alpha Tauri is very popular in these parts. Despite being eleven years old he saves his best for this track. He is still well handicapped on the best of his old form and can sneak into the frame at double digit odds. Mr Morse (E/W if 9/2+)
14:40 Southwell Crosse Fire’s five career wins have all come over this course and distance. He only raced here a few days ago and he has been running in the style of a horse that looks to be coming into a decent level of form. He is well treated on the best of his form last season and he enjoys a nice pull in the weights with his recent conqueror Captain Lars. Kieran O’Neill has secured four of those five wins on the five year old and he is once again in the plate this afternoon. This smaller field should play to his strengths and it would be of little surprise to see him back in the winners enclosure today. As mentioned Captain Lars won here on his last start a week ago. Prior to that he also went in at Wolverhampton so he is clearly in fine fettle. Dominic Shaw has his yard in excellent form and he looks to be the biggest threat to the selection this afternoon. Dungannon is a useful horse to have on your side as his eleven wins in fifty seven runs show. He comes here on the back of a two month absence but races off a plummeting mark. If fit enough to do himself justice he will have a say in the outcome of this race. Crosse Fire (WIN)
16:30 Wolverhampton Seve can defy topweight in this competitive handicap as he remains only a pound higher than his highest ever winning mark. He has won over this course and distance in the past and was only beaten a length at Kempton last time in a similar event, suggesting he was primed to strike for Tom Dascombe. Leading female rider Josephine Gordon will likely give him a strong ride and the combination look sure to go well. Oriental Relation has not gone well at Southwell for a very long time so his run there a few days ago is probably best forgotten. This track clearly suits him better these days and he has young Lewis Edmunds riding. The up and coming jockey has landed a few decent notable wins of late and the duo will likely be on the premises at the business end of this race. Foxy Forever suggested that he was on his way back by finishing second at Newcastle last time. He won a big fields handicap at The Curragh last season so if taking advantage of his free falling handicap rating he ought to be in the mix too. Seve (E/W if 9/2+)
