13:45 Taunton Earthmoves made a pleasing seasonal reappearance at Sandown a couple of weeks ago when he chased home and impressive Red Infantry over a slightly shorter trip than this. Whether it was a lack of match practice or the inexperienced jockey on board or a mixture of both, he just couldn’t reel back the winner or the runner up. He will come in in leaps and bounds for that return and with his stable in such rude health it would be of little surprise if Paul Nicholls were to win this for the third time in recent years. Nick Schofield replaces Sam Shepherd in the saddle and if seeing out this extra distance, the pair may just prove too strong. Moss On The Mill made the most of a four month layoff to win at Ludlow last time seeing off the attentions of By the Boardwalk. The front pair pulled almost two dozen lengths clear of the third indicating that the form may be quite useful. If turning up here in the same form he will be hard to keep out of the frame. Cottersrock failed to cut the mustard when upped in class a Cheltenham a couple of weeks ago. He may find it difficult giving weight away all around over a trip he is unproven at and he has to be treated with caution. Rebecca Curtis has her string in excellent shape so despite a six month break Relentless Dreamer is another to fear and is likely to make his presence known. Earthmoves (WIN)
14:20 Taunton Miracle Cure made a winning seasonal debut at Wincanton just last week and comes into this unpenalised as a result. Venetia Williams is training winners for fun so far this season and this former Jim Bolger inmate has clearly improved in the year and a half that he has been off the track. That race last week was only an amateur riders race so with Charlie Deutsch now taking over in the saddle, there is every likelihood of yet further improvement to come. The ground should be fine for the seven year old and the extra yardage is unlikely to inconvenience him. Couer Tantre has been placed at this track in the past and up until his last race had been proving to be a model of consistency. He unshipped David Crosse when blundering at the third flight at Wincanton last time and Robert Hawker will be hoping for a better round of jumping from his partner this afternoon. Western Sunrise has been placed well by Johnny Farrelly in his most recent outings. If fit enough to do himself justice on his first run back after a break he ought to go well again. 15:25 Taunton Shadaii has taken a couple of runs to get fully fit and he ought to be much more competitive this afternoon. His recent third behind Demographic last week was a much improved effort and this slightly softer ground should play to his strengths. This ten year old grey has relatively few miles on the clock but has won twice over this kind of trip. Robert Walford has sent out three winners from his relatively small yard in recent days and he has to be high on the shortlist given the level of opposition today. Let’s Go Duchess was second in the same race as the selection last time. Although she is four years younger than Shaddaii , she has as yet to win a race of any kind. This step up to just shy of two and a half miles seems to have brought about some improvement and she is likely to prove the biggest threat to the selection. The Kvilliken always threatens to a win a race but ultimately never has enough in the tank at the end. He is very likely to run his race again but he will have to find another gear to last home.
