PADDOCKS PATENT (THURSDAY)

15:50 Haydock Starting the day with a tough six furlong handicap with seventeen set to run. Direct Times is an interesting contender having only had the three runs and won two of them. The strength of his form is debatable. Advance who he beat in a maiden is now rated 63. His price is very short but has bags of potential so must be respected.

Signore Piccolo is interesting with Josh Doyle taking a valuable seven pounds off. He is on good terms with himself, recent runs behind Yeoow and Captain Dunne read well. However still above his last winning mark. Mukaynis, Grissom and New Bidder all come here with a chance, preference of them three is Mukaynis.

The selection is the Ruth Carr inmate Meshardal, this horse is in excellent form and has not been out the first two in the last ten runs. He has been running very well and I don’t think the handicapper has quite got him yet. Only one pound higher that the last time at Thirsk, that form is solid with the ninth coming out and winning a listed race next time up.

Mershardal (E/W if 4/1 +)

18:25 Fairyhouse

We stop over in Ireland for one race and on the track known for AP McCoys last win in Ireland. We have a six furlong rated race for three year old only.

Three horses, Penny Pepper, Morselle and Hunt all head the market. Penny Pepper was formerly with Eve Johnson Hughton for her first two runs. She did win on her first Irish appearance with her run behind The Happy Prince looking strong. Hunt and Morselle both look decent but have maidens wins at Dundalk. They have both beaten Ortiga and there is not much based between them. Based on that form line Ardhoomey must come into this. Still a maiden but has shown some promise. He was thought good enough to run in a really good maiden at Leopardstown at two. While disappointing he couldn’t win one of his two runs, he was just beaten and is taken to get in front today.

Ardhoomey (WIN)

19:45 Sandown

The night finishes with a Group Three over twelve furlongs, this looks for the four in the market. Western Hymn won at this level last out, he showed that day that he handles the ground and must go well again. Frankie Dettori abandons him however for Forever Now who is still unexposed and has top form from last year. He may just need this run.

Arab Spring won first time up this season which would suggest his well been as the yard usually come on for the run. However that form has been severly let down with the second and third both been well beaten since.

Tryster is a horse full of potential and should step up here to win. His electric turn of foot has seen him beat all before him on the all weather and can transfer that to the turf here.

Tryster (WIN)
