The Scotty Brand Handicap Chase is a 2 mile listed race where 6 currently go to post.

The current favourite at the time of writing is King D'Argent for the Skelton partnership. King D'Argent has had a very impressive season as a novice chaser, having raced 4 times and won on 3 occasions. He has acted over 2 miles on both good and soft ground before and the question that surrounds him could be the standard of the races that he has won. He is now stepping up into a listed race from Class 3/4 in the past.

Grand Sancy is the top weight and does hold the additional experience of being a 2nd season chaser. He acts best on good ground but the doubts are raised over the shorter trip. All of the recent performances have come over 2 and a half miles so he may not have the speed and turn of foot at the crunch time of the race.

Return Ticket for Brian Hughes is also a second season chaser. He also acts on good ground and is consistently in the frame, however has only won twice over fences. As we have a 6 runner field, there are only 2 places available.

King D'Argent will be my selection. I believe that he will improve when he steps up in company here and will continue he good form and make it 4 wins from 5 chase races.
