FRIDAY RACING TIPS

14:30 Newton Abbot

Champagne City returns to racing after last seen in November and is the eldest horse in this race. Has never won after coming back from a break and it's difficult to see him winning here today and will probably come on for the run.

Clearance just managed to get over the line last time out at Newton Abbot though the 5-pound rise might make things a little tougher today for him. Though has only ran here once and won once so maybe this track might be to his liking. Krypton Gold will almost have a shout after running 3rd last time out after a 75-day break. May of needed the run and has won at Class 2 level (This race is Class 3)

Kolisi was on a roll before the season ended and managed to get a Hatrick of wins before it ended following wind surgery. hasn't won any of his last 3 since the summer jumps campaign has begun and this is probably due to his rise at the weights. Can see why he is currently favourite in the market. But the handicapper does seem to have a grip on him. Which happens when a horse notches up a Hatrick of wins.

My selection for this is one is a course and distance winner in State Crown. Clearly has a liking to this track and has won 2 out of 2 times he has visited here. State Crown is 2 pounds below his last winning mark. Conditions at the course pretty much the same as his last 2 wins at Newton Abbott before. So, to me this points to a really good chance today at Newton Abbot.

STATE CROWN (WIN)

16:50 Newton Abbot

You would need a leap of faith to back Troed Y Melin (Who seems best when going fresh) & Mulcahys Hill today both are very difficult to make a case for. Mellow Ben seems on the decline when cheekpieces or the return to hurdles didn't help him.

Flying Verse is a course and distance winner and is on his lowest ever chase rating currently. Came 2nd last time out at Newton Abbot but that was 27 lengths behind the winner that day. I think with Flying Verse it's what mood he is in on the day.

Jony Max is a consistent type of horse who usually runs his race. conditions should be fine for him to make a bold show and comes into contention. Port O'Clock has been around the point-to-point scene and now with David Pipe won a hunters chase a couple runs back. this is a class 4 race and he hasn't done much before in these types of races.

This race in my mind points to Nelsons Rock. Won at Newton Abbot last time out on his chase debut and won well jumping bold and dictating the race to his liking. Nelsons Rock looks to me like a typical Tizzard horse who will always look better when over a fence rather than a hurdle. This race looks like a good race to follow up. The Tizzards seem to have a bit of a love affair with Newton Abbot at the moment with 6 out of his 7 chasers winning here which is impressive to say the least.

Nelsons Rock may not be a world beater but will win plenty of chase races in the future and this looks like a good opportunity today
