COPPER TO SHINE IN YORK OPENER

13:40 York

With 17 runners set to line up we start the second day of York’s May Meeting with another sprint cavalry charge.

Plenty hold a solid hand but there’s only two former course and distance winners and I’m siding with one of them.

Muscika loves it here at York but his form on the Knavesmire tends to fluctuate drastically and off a current mark of 90 is perhaps a little bit too high weight wise. May grab a place but not my idea of the winner.

The other course and distance victor Copper Knight finds himself with a very generous weight. Now 22lbs below his last winning mark the seven year old won this race two years back and it’s hard to see past the Middleham Park owned runner.

Trainer Tim Easterby sends out a trio of runners including the favourite Count D’Orsay who did well to claim second last time but I have to go with one of his lesser fancied charges.

Of the rest Rayong, Dave Dexter and Venturous could claim a place.
