SUNDAY WEEKENDER

12:50 Thurles

A three mile handicap chase to start the day and a competitive field of eighteen go to post. It’s the Ice I Like is likely to go off a short price favourite and in all truth should be winning. He ran a nice race in a less competitive race than this but he won readily. The step up in trip should be in his favour and Robert Tyner is flying while Mark Walsh is ridding out of his skin. He is taken to to continue his progress. Off the remainder Mallardsinflight and pocketfullofpennies should fill up the places.

It’s The Ice I Like (WIN)

The next race is arguably an even competitive affair over two miles. Is about herself is the current market leader and has been running very consistently recently. Won last time out following up a runner up performance. He may just be in the grips of the handicapper now.

Preference is for the in form Gordon Elliot yard and Shadow Catcher. Luke Dempsey takes an additional five pounds off which puts him well below his last winning mark. I know that was a while ago however he previous runs suggest winning is not too far away. He is by far the classiest horse in this race.

Moreece is the major danger and looks ahead of the handicapper. He should run a big race.

Shadow Catcher (E/W if 5/1+)

14:20 Thurles

Feature event at the Tipperary track is the last selection. Small field for this good price and the Favourite should prevail. Liz Doyles Kauto Grand Mogol is still improving with the step up in trip sure enough to suit. He has ran well in a grade two last time out and a reproduction of that run should be good enough. Bosman Rule has been highly disappointing and I would be shocked if he is good enough. Pros and cons is surely not good enough while Draycott Place enthusiasm must be question given the refusal last time out.

Kauto Grand Mogol (WIN)
