WEDNESDAY RACING TIPS

15:40 Brighton

Granary Queen can be a frustrating horse as she likes to be held up off the pace before making a late dash for the line, however she arrives here in good form having won two of her last three, is proven over the trip and is a dual course winner so with Kondratiev Wave likely to set a decent tempo up front she should have the race run to suit today.

The Cover Kid has already won four from six this season, the latest being a five length victory over course and distance last month. This is a step up in class and he’s also gone up 8lbs for that facile victory but he would be dangerous to dismiss in current form, with English Spirit also holding his form well and considered for each way purposes.

GRANARY QUEEN (WIN)

15:50 Pontefract

It’s ladies day at Pontefract and we will be backing Hollie Doyle to bag us a winner with Global Spirit. Roger Fell’s seven-year-old won over course and distance in April, beating Yanifer (2nd) who has posted two subsequent victories and Eilean Dubh (3rd) who has since notched three wins from five, and arrives here on the back of an excellent second at Ripon when last seen. Well drawn in stall 3 and 3lbs below his best winning mark, he should be capable of regaining the winning thread here.

Jewel Maker has done most of his winning on the all weather but did pop up with an 11/1 victory over a furlong further when racing at Carlisle last month. He failed to build on that when upped 4lbs at Haydock a week later but the trainer and jockey combo won this race last year so he warrants plenty of respect.

Completing the shortlist is Little Jo who finished a couple of lengths behind Jewel Maker when fourth at Carlisle but is better off at the weights this time around and has made the frame in four from eight over track and trip so could be capable of another bold show.
