Hey Bob arrives here in search of a hat-trick following comfortable victories at Sedgefield and Fakenham in the last two months, however has gone up a further 8lbs for his latest victory and his three prior runs at this unique course have proved disappointing so preference is for The Steward who has made the frame in five from nine over track and trip and although has to shoulder top-weight he has won better races off higher marks than today. Local trainer James Moffatt won this race last year and arrives here in top form having had three winners (all with Charlotte Jones in the saddle) on Saturday so I’m expecting a bold bid from the eleven-year-old.
Ben Haslam and Richie McLernon also have decent records at the track so Lady Shanawell, who is another prior winner here, needs a mention despite having gone over two years since her last victory.
THE STEWARD (WIN)

Frightened Rabbit won this race last year, one of two prior course and distance wins, and given his trainers form at the course and his ready victory at Hexham last month he rates a confident selection to follow up here in the finale.
James Moffatt has his stable firing on all cylinders and runs three – Vocal Duke, Golden Town and Oakmont. Of the trio, the most likely to challenge looks to be Oakmont who won on this card last year and should be primed for a decent run following a pipe-opener on the flat at Catterick last month, with Glajou also an interesting runner given that a Paul Nicholls’ runner is a rare sight at the Lake District course and he’s potentially very well treated off a mark of 111 despite carrying top-weight.
