WEDNESDAY FLAT RACING TIPS

19:15 Kempton

Misty Grey has been in very good form since joining Tom Dascombe’s yard, winning three out of his last five races. He ran well at Lingfield, after a long layoff, when finishing fourth in a competitive Listed race. However, he’s unexposed over a mile and his one start over the distance, doesn’t bode well. Moreover, he’s never won at Kempton and has only ever placed at this class. There’s a few questions to be answered and he seems an opposable favourite.

Kenzai Warrior won on his return to the racetrack, over course and distance, back in September and was mid-division in the Balmoral Handicap a month later. He’s always been a promising sort and the Haggas stable is in quite good form. However, he didn’t win by far, on his last start here, and this race is definitely harder. He might well make up the lesser places today.

Stormy Antarctic sets the standard for this race, being six pounds better off than Misty Grey, on the official ratings. However, he has to give away three of those but that’s balanced out by how he’s frequently victorious at this class and distance. Moreover, he comes off the back of a nice second placed run at Newmarket, also in Listed company. Tom Marquand arrives in good form and Ed Walker is one of the leading-most trainers at Kempton this year. He looks the one to beat.
