TV TIPS (SATURDAY)

14:25 Cheltenham – BetVictor Gold Cup Chase This illustrious handicap chase has produced some fantastic winners such as former Cheltenham Gold Cup victor Imperial Commander and also notorious chasers such as Our Vic, Exotic Dancer and Al Ferof. Other previous race runners (although not claiming success in this) include the likes of Long Run, Frodon and Monkerhostin. This years renewal could potentially produce a future chasing superstar and the most likely to go on to bigger and better things are the two at the head of the market.Course and distance winner Slate House ticks a tonne of boxes with a victory here at jumps HQ before and the softer ground should also play into the hands of Colin Tizzard’s charge. A recent winning return to action should ensure he’s fit and ready for his second start of the season and should play a massive hand in this however purely from a punting point of view with 20 runners set to line up at the start you have to look for a horse with better value. The other potential future superstar could be Nick Williams’ six year old Siruh Du Lac who’s claimed wins in his last four outings. The only downside is that fitness is a question mark as he makes his seasonal reappearance but having won first time out after a break previously it shouldn’t be a major issue for this Cheltenham Festival winner and is the likeliest to push Slate House however all this being said it’s Belami Des Pictons that gets our vote here. At a current price of around 16/1 the Venetia Williams runner seems a very interesting outsider. A horse that is very lightly raced, will relish the softer ground and hails from an in-form yard he looks set to go closer than his current odds may suggest. The addition of blinkers could spark further improvement and if he can overcome his lengthy absence looks a great each way bet for punters on the hunt for value here. BELAMI DES PICTONS (WIN)
