TUESDAY RACING TIPS

19:00 Uttoxeter

The horses at the top end of the market have been in decent form of late.

Leopalds Rock is obviously going to be popular. A comfortable winner here last time under Brian Hughes (decent record for the yard) takes the ride again. But judging from his head carriage it’ll be interesting to see if he can repeat the dose.

Balzac on his day looks to have plenty of ability, particularly as proven when bolting up, beating a horse in form. On his penultimate run here at this track, he dug his toes in at the start and refused to race. Might be one for the in play punters.

Near Kettering is the each way selection. This horse is a little hit and miss, but he has dropped to a competitive mark once again. He’s also been freshened up by a 150 day break. Despite top weight he’s more than capable enough dropped in grade, especially if there’s money for him.

NEAR KETTERING (E/W)

19:20 Ffos Las

Space Trucker is two from two, however he looked a tricky ride when winning at Windsor last time. His opening mark of 93 looks high.

Percy’s Lad made an encouraging start to the season. His limitations looked exposed last time time in the Hunt Cup despite running creditably.

Red Mirage has won his last two races but hasn’t been hammered by the handicapper because of his short margin victories. He must hold every chance.

Able Kane is the selection. He’s been running consistently well in some decent handicaps, and there’s no doubt the handicapper has given him a chance here. A flat seven furlongs with a decent pace to aim at should be ideal.
