THURSDAY RACING TIPS

14:52 Lingfield

Serious Look has placed in two of his first three starts and won his most recent. The form of those races aren’t too bad but they’re not world beating. He should fare well on the All-Weather given he placed on his first start on it. He could be an improver and Buick is a good booking but he has to shoulder a penalty and he could be exposed because of that.

Saxon King probably found six furlongs a bit too fast for him on his debut at Windsor but improved when upped by a furlong, for a competitive Ascot maiden. He finished third that day behind a smart pair. He’s nicely bred but will need improvement again to land the spoils and he’s untried on the All-Weather surface.

Rogue Fox is interestingly bred and makes his debut today. His relations have tasted victory over a range of distances, which makes it hard to pinpoint his but time will tell. Tom Clover and Jack Mitchell are in impressive form and have a good rapport with connections. Additionally, his first time two-year olds are going very well this season. He could have the measure of his more experienced rivals today.

ROGUE FOX (WIN) 18:15 Wolverhampton

Conquistador is the representative of John and Thady Gosden for Lady Ogden. He was down the field on his debut behind the smart Highbank but improved slightly when placing third at York. He placed third again, when last seen at Newbury, but was quite free running. He should’ve done better that day but has surely learnt from his first three starts. The main question is whether experience will prevail today.

Golden Passport was fourth on his debut but that doesn’t tell the whole story. He only really got into gear from the last furlong and was flying home but to no avail. He steps up to seven furlongs today, which on the basis of that last run, should suit him a lot. He has relations who have excelled over seven and he’s the main danger today, should he come on for that eyecatching first run.

Apex is a newcomer today for George Boughey and Highclere. He’s a half brother to the former’s classy filly Oscula and should relish the distance today. He cost quite a bit as a yearling and George Boughey knows how to handle his newcomers. This seems like the kind of race that could set him on his way.
