THURSDAY RACING TIPS

16:45 Redcar

A rather interesting affair, as to be expected! Pride of America as established a good partnership with Silvestre De Sousa, winning one race and placing second in the other. Plenty going for them today with trainer in form and distance is suitable. However, the mannerism in which he won at Chester has led to a 9lbs rise, which could prove his undoing.

Stay Well was introduced to James Doyle last time out and they produced a reasonable effort after a 173 day break. He will stay this distance and further. Additionally, Hughie Morrison’s horses have been running well. Despite a couple of quirks, he looks a live contender.

Lightening Company is of interest here at better odds. He’s won at Redcar before and the step up in distance today should be a swinger in his favour. Ben Haslam in reasonably good form and Paul Hanagan rides him for the first time but nonetheless a good booking. It would be a surprise if he didn’t outrun his odds.

LIGHTENING COMPANY (WIN) 19:40 Chelmsford

Spinaround was last seen second at Goodwood and was just narrowly denied at Wolverhampton, the time before. She improved for that Goodwood second and has been raised by four pounds subsequently. She makes her poly track debut today, which does add an unknown quantity. However, she’s got a bit to find with the selection, as she was two lengths down on him at Leicester.

Geiwont represents the decently inform Darryll Holland barn and the ever present Jamie Spencer. He has won three times this year with all three coming on the polytrack. He may not have enjoyed his races at Newmarket, on the turf, while also being outclassed. He’s won over a mile and retains his headgear that has worked well for him. He’s taken to go well again but he faces a tougher opposition and you have to wonder whether if so many races in a short timeframe could take its toll.

New Dimension is the charge of duo who have the favourite for the Epsom Derby, in Desert Crown, Sir Michael Stoute and Richard Kingscote. Both are in pretty good form and New Dimension is by Ulysses, who has made a stellar start to his stud career. He won on his debut, beating the aforementioned Spinaround. He was slightly disappointing at Nottingham when a slow start probably cost him the race. He will improve for that run and makes plenty of appeal on his handicap debut.
