SUNDAY WEEKENDER

12:50 Kelso We start the day over at Kelso for an intriguing Novice Chase over just shy of three miles. I Need Gold is the market leader and won easily first time up. However given the form of the McCain yard I’m willing to overlook the favourite here. The selection is Oscar Rock who was very disappointing over hurdles despite having a big reputation. The change to fences should bring massive improvement. Jefferson should have him schooled well and Brian Hughes has been riding very well recently. Man With A Van has to be respected but having to give away a double penalty could struggle while Wakanda is very exposed. Lord Wishes may be the biggest danger up in trip with a run under his belt he should chase the selection home. Oscar Rock (WIN)

13:15 Cork A stronger than normal renewal of the Kerry Group Stayers Novice Hurdle with a really competitive field on show. Willie Mullins Black Hercules is the current market leader. The step up in trip from two to three looks as tho it will suit, given he won his point over this trip. This looks as if it will develop into a match between the afore mentioned black Hercules and No More Heroes, the later is the selection, given how well the yard are going. Plus he may just have a bit more scope than Black Hercules. Kevin Sexton will know the horse well and also has been going well. In truth this is a top class event with the remainder would be well to the fore any other year. Preference is for No More Heroes, he has a real touch of class that could send him all the way too the top. No More Heroes (WIN)

14:30 Punchestown The final race today looks another match between Elliot and Mullins. With the former taken to come out on top again and make it an across the card double. Mala Beach is another top class recruit to the novice chase division. He will benefit from the run behind the Tullow Tank (while that form has been let down slightly) and ground conditions due to be on the slow side he can get the best of Un Atout who has his first run since April 2013. He was top class over hurdles but will surely need this and Mala Beach is no slouch. These two are well clear on ratings and barring mishaps Mala Beach will hopefully complete the treble. Mala Beach (WIN)
