PADDOCKS PATENT (WEDNESDAY)

13:00 Warwick A few of these stand out as having something to prove on the good to soft ground whilst a few others have to prove that they are up to winning off their marks. Prettyasapicture probably falls into both categories having been beaten off a six pounds lower mark last time over half a mile further, her victory before that also came on good to firm ground so there are concerns. Alan King’s mare has the look of an improver though and back down in trip today she is taken to prove effective enough on the ground and defy the penalty. Goal hails from a yard who can do little wrong, he seemingly wants better ground though and has proved rather costly to follow and is taken on today as a result. Planetoid should be fit having had a few runs on the flat, his profile suggests more is likely to come over obstacles but the application of headgear is concerning given his previous four victories came without them. He is the main danger to the selection though Spin Cast could easily outrun his odds having previously shown enough to take one of these. Prettyasapicture (WIN)

14:20 Nottingham It Must Be Faith bolted up over course and distance last week having previously looked better suited to six furlongs, the impression he left that day is very hard to get away from today and although penalised and up in grade he can the defy the handicapper under Hayley Turner. Juice in the ground evidently holds no fears for Mick Appleby’s charge and his favourable high draw is another positive, with plenty of the rest having a bit to prove. Cruise To The Limit is capable in this grade and is another who has a decent draw, he certainly has chances as does Singeur, though the draw could have been kinder to him. Must Be Faith (E/W if 5/1+)

15:40 Warwick The all conquering Phillip Hobbs yard are represented by Allthekingshorses who makes a quick return having run with huge credit at Wincanton a few weeks back. The worry is that this could have come a little soon, but off the same mark and down in grade he is impossible to oppose and is given to run out the winner on ground he clearly handles. Should the Hobbs challenger bounce the one most likely to profit appears to be Fix It Right, he won at this time of year last season and although slightly disappointing when beaten at Kempton the last day, improvement is extremely likely. Georgian King is another with a chance and is an extremely consistent sort, the ground has to be the concern today for him but he is worth bearing in mind if it dries. Allthekingshorses (WIN)
