The early market leader is the Archie Watson trained Going Places and as the name suggests could prove to be better than this level, having beaten the re-opposing Starshiba by four lengths in convincing fashion over this trip at Lingfield earlier in the month. The Frankel gelding had earlier finished a decent second over course and distance when trained by Roger Varian so won't have a problem with the surface, however given he has only managed three races over an eighteen month period it would be a risk backing at such short odds given he's only had just over two weeks since his last run.
At the prices, preference is for Equitation who is yet to taste success on the all-weather but was less than two lengths behind the winner when fifth at 40/1 over course and distance in November and, having had a couple of races over a furlong shorter, now returns to seven furlongs on a 4lbs lower mark and is partnered with Richard Kingscote who has a decent strike rate both here at Kempton and when riding for the trainer.
