MONDAY RACING TIPS

14:48 Hamilton

Beautiful Secret comes into this race having posted a great effort in a top class handicap earlier in the month at Ascot under similar conditions. She looks sure to make another bold bid today although the draw could have been kinder to her as she likes to race quite prominently.

Roger Varian’s runner here is Shampion , who drops in distance here today as she ran very keenly last time out at York. The form of her Windsor success also isn’t playing out too kindly although she did win that race well that particular day with Spanish back in fifth. It’s highly likely that the two runners will finish closer together today over this shorter distance as Spanish was very impressive in getting off the mark for William Haggas at the fourth time of asking on the all-weather at this distance.

Scotch Mistress runs having not raced since having wind surgery in the summer. She would have a chance of coming back at the top of her game after a break but I suspect that she will probably need the run and others may be better handicapped.

I’m siding with Beautiful Secret here providing she can overcome that tricky draw. It looks a good chance for her on paper dropping in grade slightly and the runner of Saeed Bin Suroor shouldn’t be too far away today.

BEAUTIFUL SECRET (WIN)

Quite a few runners line up with chances here in what looks quite a competitive race for the grade.

Love Your Work returns to turf on his lower mark having exploited this already at Beverley back in April. He did then struggle off this current mark when he was turned over at odds on at Pontefract and so others appear a safer bet here today considering he is just one from sixteen on the grass.

Ayr Poet has been running some good races over the last four months and hasn’t been out of the winners enclosure each time he has run. His mark continues to climb however, and he will need this to be a strongly run contest to claim victory today.

My pick here will be dual course and distance winner Shahnaz who has also been in great form for Gemma Tutty. The filly was second in a higher grade last time out under Laura Coughlan and with the aid of her three-year-old allowance in addition to Laura’s 5lb claim she will be very competitive here again in this contest.
