MONDAY RACING TIPS

18:30 Ayr

Competitive fare for a class 6 with three last time out winners, two of which come here with penalties and another runner who won two starts ago. Heading the weights is Wednesday’s easy winner Cathayensis who has come into her own now she is running over 10 furlongs and if she comes here in the same form, she will be competitive. Chinese Spirit is the other with a penalty and is also at the other end of the weights but that was a poor race this 8yo won and he should come up short today.

I will however be siding with the unexposed handicap debutant Golden Vintage for Jedd O’Keeffe, who showed a fair level of ability on her second start. That will make her very competitive off a mark of 65 and she also gets the 3yo allowance in this contest.

GOLDEN VINTAGE (WIN)

19:10 Windsor

Another competitive race but at a much higher level, this class 3 for 4yos and up will see the 96 rated Lucander head the weights who went close a couple of times last season but is without a win since August 2020. He will no doubt run well but will be vulnerable for win purposes, Miramichi is who I think will take a lot of stopping from the plum draw in stall 1. Tom Dascombe will be hoping he will get him off the mark from his new base after his very public split from Manor House and he teams up with his former stable jockey Richard Kingscote. Miramichi ran up a four-timer last season and although he is still above his last winning mark I think he has more to give.
