FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

18:15 Dundalk

My only selection this evening is an outsider that may well have flown under the radar. He's set to line up in the fourth at Dundalk in what looks a decent seven furlong handicap.

Some top quality Irish stables are represented with the names of Harrington, Lyons and Lynam on the race card. My selection however perhaps carries the surname with the most racing history as Joseph O'Brien is set to saddle two runners.

Although the trainer has Baldomera set for the lineup I actually prefer, what the market suggests to be his second string. Four year old Irish Acclaim is one of the six former course and distance winners and was having a very mediocre turf campaign until pulling a 4th out of the bag at Leopardstown last time out. That was a cavalry charge like seventeen runner handicap that was mightily competitive so it looks as if the trainer has got him primed and ready for another bold showing. All four of his career victories came on the all-weather with three here at Dundalk and now with 2lbs less weight on his back than his most recent success he should go well at what looks a very generous current price.
