As with every renewal of the worlds most famous horse race it's a veritable lottery and when there's been a handful of 100/1 winners in the past it's safe to say anything can and will happen in the roughly 13 minutes it takes to complete the 4 mile and 2 furlong course.

The biggest and most noticeable absence from the lineup this year is former two time winner Tiger Roll who, due to connections unhappiness with the weight he was given by the handicapper, was withdrawn. Sadly, now retired, we won't get to see this little legend aim to emulate the achievements of Red Rum who claimed success in the race on three separate occasions.
Despite such a noticeable absence this years race looks as good and as competitive as ever with last years victor Minella Times looking to claim back to back race wins.
