York’s prestigious Ebor meeting gets underway with an ultra competitive sprint handicap and that’s exactly where we find today’s bet of the day.

Holmeswood has a 50% strike rate over today’s course and distance and put in a decent showing at this venue most recently.

A drop back to five furlong and on better ground is a huge plus and without a win in his last seven starts he could be the forgotten horse that punters should latch on to.

Likely favourite Tis Marvellous aims to build on his recent Shergar Cup success but with a five pound rise to contend with today’s task looks much trickier.

Local trainer Paul Midgley would love a winner here at York and Final Venture has a lovely chance to ensure his local yard get off the mark after two encouraging performances here.

Of the remainder the lightly raced Culturati aims to get back to winning ways after a lacklustre seasonal reappearance and at a much bigger prices Eastern Impact and Carlton Frankie could do better than their odds suggest.
