WEDNESDAY RACING TIPS

15:30 Ludlow

Lassue has some nice form and has improved with both her races. She should have sharpened up a bit now she’s on her third day at school and shouldn’t be so green. Moreover, she might well enjoy the step up in trip and is armed with the extra 7 lbs allowance to help her along her way. She’s probably justified as being favourite and you’d be disappointed if she doesn’t run well.

Mister Splash is another one who has improved with every race. He wasn’t so far away behind the ever likeable Natty Night at Taunton, which is pretty nice form. Additionally, Evan Williams and Adam Wedge are in good form. However, he does step up quite dramatically in trip. He might just be better left watched today.

Firth Of Gold makes his debut today for Kim Bailey and David Bass. He cost a decent amount and is related to a very smart performer in Grandouet. If he has anywhere near the upside of Grandouet, then this race should be no problem for him. There’s been a bit of support for him in the market and he should enjoy the trip and the ground. He’s the only one that’s unexposed and if he can get over his inexperience, then he could be a player.

FIRTH OF GOLD (E/W) 18:00 Kempton

Parlando just prevailed on his debut and will relish the step up in trip. Adam Kirby and Charlie Appleby are in good form, as ever! The form of his debut win has worked out quite well and he will be sharper for his second race. The only major concern is with the rather hefty penalty he’s been faced with, due to his debut success.

Moonis is unexposed and represents the inform Roger Varian and Jim Crowley. He’s a half brother to Group One winning mare, Eshaada. He’s also related to the smart seven furlongs performer, Mutamaasik. He shouldn’t have a problem with the distance of a mile and has 7 lbs in his favour, due to Parlando’s aforementioned penalty. I think he’s the main danger to Parlando.

This is a large field and it wouldn’t seem right to omit a large each way shout. Landermere has the same silks as the 1989 Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe winner, Carroll House and owned by the aptly named Carroll House Racing. He’s related to some decent performers up to a mile and is by New Approach, who has sired some smart milers. Tom Clover’s last two runners have won and Jack Mitchell is in good form. He’s wearing a tongue strap today and with a good break, isn’t disadvantaged by his draw. At a current price of 33/1, he seems a large price, in what seems a wide open race bar the favourite.
