WEDNESDAY RACING TIPS

13:45 Ludlow

This is quite a tricky affair with the probability of quite a lot of pace at the head of the field, which doesn’t narrow it down at all. Not Available is sure to be at the top end of the field, after winning a competitive race from the front, last time out. He’s won over nearly three miles, so he won’t be stopping at the business end of this race. He’s been raised three pounds for his last win and is probably the main danger to the selection.

Rockstar Ronnie arguably could have been lucky to win last time out but nevertheless, he wasn’t well in on the weights and the form has since held steady. He steps up in class, which is an unknown quantity. The ground won’t be a problem but with a fast pace, you could query the distance.

Fidelio Vallis is two from three in class two handicaps and is the class act here. He had excuses last time out, possibly not enjoying himself at Cheltenham. He’s back to a right-handed track, which is massively in his favour. However, he does carry a mammoth twelve stone and three pounds but he should still be rated as the leading show.

Fitzrovia has been in decent form of late, winning two of his last three races. The last of which came last time out at Kempton, over seven furlongs. He’s back up in trip today and keeps the blinkers, which seem to be working well for him so far. That being said, he’s been given a penalty for his recent form and as such, is a pound out of the handicap. He could be an opposable favourite.

Light Lily posted a career best when scoring by a nose, over seven furlongs, at Kempton, last time out. Both her jockey and trainer are in good form and she’s a two time course and distance winner. However, she only just prevailed at Kempton and the form of that race isn’t exactly rock solid. Moreover, there’s no saying that the step back up to a mile will be beneficial.

Susie Javea doesn’t portray much appeal on raw form but she is a four time course and distance winner. Moreover, she’s never placed outside the top three in all of her seven starts over course and distance. She has a nice draw and Harry Russell and Ollie Pears are in quite good form of late and have a nice record around Southwell. She’s always ran well on her second start after a break, which she does today and she doesn’t have to carry the full alloyed 9 stone and 6 lbs, with Russell taking three of those off. Given the evidence, she seems a massive price.
