Ey Up Its Maggie ran well for third at Pontefract on Monday and if taking his place in todays’ line up would have to be considered dropping down in class, however such a quick turnaround would have to be a concern.
Sound Reason was a course and distance winner last May and finished the season with a victory at Carlisle in August before finishing second to Show Yourself over track and trip in September. All three career wins have come with Kevin Stott in the saddle and the trainer and jockey teamed up to win this race in 2019 so I’m expecting a bold show here.
Show Yourself has a fantastic record over course and distance, posting four wins from five runs, with the loss coming in a Listed contest where he understandably found things a little tough. He finished a half-length ahead of Sound Reason when they met here in September and although is very slightly worse off at the weights this time around he has had the benefit of a pipe-opener on the All Weather at Kempton last month and with that under his belt could just have the edge again.
Ginger Jam also boasts an excellent record of five wins from six at the course, with each of those victories coming over the minimum trip and the majority coming on good or even faster ground, however his record first time up leaves a little to be desired.

Mint Condition finished fifth in the Kim Muir however finished a tired horse and given all career victories have come over shorter trips and in softer conditions than he is likely to encounter today it could prove a tough ask to give weight all around here.
Brother Pat gets on well with jockey Theo Gillard, has the stamina for this kind of trip and has done most his winning on good ground so looks likely to give another good account, although it is worth noting his victories have come in lower class races.
Champagnesuperover won a match race with apparent ease at Catterick last month, proving he sees out this trip and acts on a faster surface in the process. He needs to improve his overall level of consistency but contested a couple of Grade 1 races over hurdles and has shown glimpses of real ability so with the step up in trip promising to allow him to fulfil his potential he gets the vote to follow up here.
