Guernsey was well beaten on first run of the season but since then has posted results of 123222, finishing within a length and a half of the winner on all five runs since his victory at Exeter. With just one career win to his name he perhaps hasn’t won as many as he should however is a consistent sort who rarely runs a bad race and has perfect conditions for another solid performance here today.
Jonjo O’Neill trained the winner of this race last season and runs A Distant Place whose sole career victory came over a similar trip on good ground. He failed to land a blow last time out but that came over two miles and the step back up in trip should suit so he warrants plenty of respect.
Feivel was ready winner at 22/1 when last seen at Hereford but a 6lbs rise for that effort and the forecast faster conditions will go against him today, whereas Mackelduff began the season with a Class 2 victory at Aintree but his form tailed off following that win and has had a wind op in the hope that sparks some improvement.
GUERNSEY (WIN)
19:30 Kempton
Fantasy Believer finished second by a nose in a blanket finish over course and distance two weeks ago, his first run since October and also first run for Ed Walker. All three career wins have come over track and trip and with that recent run under his belt he looks to hold an excellent chance of adding to his already impressive record here at Kempton.
Diderot is a two-time winner over this trip but didn’t do himself justice at Newcastle last time out and will need to settle better if he is to get involved, so the bigger danger could be To The Bar who ran well enough for fourth on his first attempt over a mile at Lingfield last month and looks capable of building on that effort.
