Clear Day placed third on his debut, over course and distance. He was beaten by ten lengths but he was quite far back and stayed on strongly. He’s open to improvement and Tom Marquand is an eye-catching jockey booking. However, this does seem a tougher race and he will have to be at his best and mature to win this.
Island Falcon was third on debut at Goodwood and shaped like he was promising. He wasn’t beaten far and kept on strongly. He looks to be the strongest of those that are on their second day at school. However, his debut race was over a mile and one furlong, on soft ground, so I think there is a chance that he might find this mile and half a furlong contest slightly fast. Additionally, he’s bred to get further. Today might not be his day.
Kalahari Prince is one of many Godolphin participants in this race but he is the chosen mount of William Buick. He’s a half brother to some smart performers, over a mile, and his breeding suggests that he should follow suit. He’s on the better side of the draw and it could be notable that Charlie Appleby won this race last year with Adayar. Godolphin newcomers always warrant intrigue and Kalahari Prince is no different.

Marching Army has quite a bit going for him in this race, he’s won at this course and on this surface and seems to benefit from wearing cheekpieces. Moreover, he’s won over this distance and that was with a commanding victory in a small runner field. His record at this class isn’t really in his favour and he’s having to deal with a five pounds penalty. He seems opposable today.
Candleford is the favourite for this race and off his Newmarket form, probably duly so. He was third beaten by five lengths to the smart Siskany and before that, he kept on over a mile and four furlongs, at Ascot. He looks progressive and class apprentice, Adam Farragher, retains the ride. However, this is his All-Weather and Kempton debut and if he doesn’t take to the surface and course, then all that form could be undone.
Bandinelli is chasing his hat trick of wins and looks set to do so. He’s won over further distances than the one mile and four furlongs today and has won at this class. Moreover, he posted a career best last time out and Derby winning jockey, Adam Kirby, seems to get a tune out of him. There is the question over the poly track surface but he has won on the All-Weather, which gives him more of an advantage.
