WEDNESDAY FLAT RACING TIPS

14:05 Newmarket

It Is Now is nicely bred and represents leading connections, Roger Varian and Andrea Atzeni. He’s a half brother to three winners. He was bought for a five figure sum and his owners are very well respected. Some of his siblings won over seven furlongs but others won over shorter distances, so there is the chance he could follow suit. It’d be a surprise if he didn’t run well.

My Prospero is a half brother to the smart performer, My Oberon, who’s also owned by connections. Additionally, Tom Marquand and William Haggas are both in good form. My Prospero was foaled quite late, which suggests he’s been kept under wraps for longer. He’s quite well supported in the market but ultimately, anything can happen on his first day at school.

It’s hard to go against the powerhouse of William Buick and Charlie Appleby, especially at Newmarket. Noble Order is a full brother to Royal Fleet and Severnaya, both of which won over seven furlongs, and a half brother to Royal Crusade, who has won, and been placed in Group company, over seven furlongs. Godolphin are enjoying a flying year, even more so with their two year old's, and with Buick and Appleby in tip-top form, he seems hard to oppose.

19:00 Kempton

Wodeton showed a bit of promise on his debut at Sandown, when placing second, but ran poorly at Salisbury subsequently. He’s a half sibling to an eight time winner over seven furlongs but he seems to be bred to race further. It will be interesting to see how he fares with the transition to the All-Weather track but if he can reproduce his debut form, he is certainly a danger.

A Godolphin participant always warrants contention and Bay Of Honour does so. He didn’t run brilliantly on his debut at Doncaster but that form has been franked since. Moreover, connections are in very good form. That being said, on his breeding, he looks like he could prefer further than seven furlongs and given the nature of his debut race, there is the slight possibility he could find seven furlongs at Kempton a little too fast.

Wineglass Bay shaped rather well on debut, finishing fourth behind a few nice horses in a tacitly run affair. He probably would’ve finished higher but he was carried across for the last furlong. That was only twenty days ago, so he will still be quite fit. The only real question is whether he will take to the All-Weather surface but if he does, then he deserves the market support he’s getting.
