WEDNESDAY FLAT RACING TIPS

16:15 Bath

Brunnera was one of my horses to watch for the season and has been quietly improving this year. She’s been a bit of an enigma for Hugo Palmer and he tries her over a mile and six furlongs today, for the first time. I don’t think she enjoyed the softer ground, last time out, so she should not mind the ground today. She’s got a lot of potential and maybe she will relish the step up but there are a few questions and she’s best left watched today.

Sacred Rhyme has some decent form, being beaten a couple of lengths by Interpretation over a mile and five furlongs, who then went on to place fourth in the St Leger and fourth again in a hot Group Two at Longchamp. That form is arguably the best in the race and she should enjoy the step up in trip. However, she’s not got a brilliant draw and she hasn’t got a good record on this ground. She could probably do with some cut in the ground.

Sea Sylph beat a few of her fellow competitors at Goodwood, over a mile and six furlongs, but she was quite better off in the weights. That being said, as previously mentioned, she’s won over this distance and very much enjoys the ground. Additionally, she has a nice draw and gains weight off a few of her rivals. Moreover, the booking of Tom Marquand catches the eye. She’s larger price than others, of which have less going for them than her.
