WE'RE BACK!!!

13:00 Newcastle

WE’RE BACK!!! Racing takes centre stage across the whole sporting world and boy does it feel good to get stuck in to some racing. Perhaps not the top-class echelons however to see some decent handicappers and potentially decent youngsters means we have an action packed 10 race card at Newcastle to keep us busy.

I’m hoping we can start the day off right with a big priced winner in the form of Zodiakos. A seven year old who’s only ever graced this course on two previous occasions and finished runner up on both starts. With less weight to carry and a drop back down to Class 6 company possibly being the boost needed to finally find their head in front he looks too big a price to ignore at around 25/1.

Trainer Roger Fell also sends another two in to this contest and although my preference is obviously for Zodiakos stable mate and course and distance winner Al Ozzdi deserves respect. A consistent type who often finds themselves in and around the head of the pack come the closing stages.

Mick Appleby’s Stone Mason has attracted tonnes of market support and looks likely to go off favourite. The horse makes its stable debut and the Appleby yard have a great record with new recruits first time out. The money looks down so the signs are promising but I’m happy enough to take on a four race maiden even though the four year old will be on the scene.

A little note for punters with this race is for course winner Muatadel. I don’t expect a big run from this horse here today because the one mile trip just doesn’t suit what so ever but this race should see him strip fitter and take note when he drops down to sprint trips.
