VERSE TO FLY HOME AT BANGOR

14:10 Bangor-On-Dee

A class 3 handicap is the feature on this Bangor summer jumps meet race card. Favourite Wishfull Dreaming romped home last time out at Bangor and is favourite to win here again albeit under a 7-pound penalty. the penalty and the fact it was only 8 days ago he raced over this course and distance is it possibly a bit of a quick turnaround to be out again. I'm not entirely sure he will have it all his own way.

Top Weight Havana Hermano finished 2nd last time out at Bangor but has gone up 3 pounds for finishing 2nd although he stayed the trip it does make his task a little bit harder and others possibly look better handicapped. Fingerontheswitch on old form could come into it at a bigger price but seems to be on a downward slide and really hasn't shown anything in his last 8 races for you to be encouraged by.

Ocean Cove is another you would be foolish not to consider given the form of the trainer and jockey Fergal O Brien Operating at 35% strike rate & Paddy Brennan at 40% strike rate last 14 days.

My selection however is Flying Verse. who is a course and distance winner round here but interesting enough is back with his trainer David Dennis who is the only the trainer who has managed to get 4 wins out of Flying Verse 80 Career starts. Flying Verse has had 2 trainers since his last victory October 2019 and they haven't managed to get a win out of Flying Verse. Added to the fact David Dennis has former champion jockey Bryan Hughes to call upon in the saddle who as a jockey seems to like Bangor-On-Dee operating at a 21% strike rate over this course over the last 5 seasons. Flying Verse is on a very tempting mark down 7 pounds on his last class 3 handicap chase race and comes into this race as the bottom weight.

Change of yard can always freshen up a horse and it could be the case of home comforts back with a trainer who has managed to get wins out of Flying Verse. I just think Flying Verse doesn't look a bad each way alternative and has a few conditions in his favour today at 11/2 at time of writing holds a bit of value to take on the favourite.
